Rituals associated with Maa Samleswari

Samlei:the ruling deity of SambalpurThe temple of the Maa Samlei is visited by many devotees daily. But on Tuesday and Saturday, the days which are considered to be the days of the Mother, this may go up to thousands. On festivals days like Nuakhai, this may increase to even lakhs. During Nuakhai, puja is offered in a total 112 places in the temple premises. The most unique thing about worshipping of Samlei in this temple is that no money is demanded from the devotees for performing of pujas by the priests.

Time schedule of different Rituals in the Temple of Maa Samlei

  • Mangala Alati - 5.00 a.m.
  • Bhoga and Pahada - 12.00 Noon to 12.30 Noon
  • (Darshan is restricted daily for 30 minutes only)

  • Alati - 8.00 p.m.
  • Bhoga - 9.00 p.m.
  • Closure of Temple - 10.00 p.m.
  • Sale of Annabhog 12.15 noon onwards

On festival days and on all Tuesday people throng to the Samleswari temple at Sambalpur en masse . Based on the number of devotees, the duration of Darshan is sometimes increased to 1 hour as per the decision of the temple managing committee.
